Styrelsen för Svenska institutet i Athen ledigförklarar härmed Institutets stora forskningsstipendier för höstterminen 2021 och vårterminen 2022. Stipendierna är avsedda för dem som ägnar sig åt vetenskapligt och självständigt studium av ämnen med koppling till Institutets verksamhet som förutsätter vistelse i Grekland. Studenter och forskare vid svenska universitet samt svenska studenter och forskare knutna till utländska universitet kan söka. Visst företräde ges för sökande från Antikens kultur och samhällsliv, men bedömning sker beroende på ansökningarnas kvalitet och relevans.

The Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum (CVA) is a series quality catalogues of mostly ancient Greek painted pottery in collections around the world. The series started in 1922 and since then almost 400 have appeared.

Greek Movie Days, 2020

The Greek Movie Days is a yearly event organized by the Swedish institute at Athens, the Greek Film Centre as well as the Greek House of Culture and the Greek School in Stockholm. The event is organized under the auspices of the Greek Embassy in Stockholm with the object of highlighting new and exciting Greek films.

As a result of the current pandemic, this year’s event will take place on the web at drakenfilm.se, the leading streaming service for quality film in Sweden. The films will premiere on the 22d, 29th of November and on the 6th of December.

Svenska institutet i Athen utlyser möjlighet till praktik under 3-6 veckor, VT 2021. 

Behörig att söka praktikplatserna är den som är student (eller nyligen har avlagt examen) i Antikens kultur och samhällsliv eller annat ämne relevant för institutets verksamhet.

Ansökan senast den 1 december.

New Head Librarian of the Nordic Library at Athens

The Swedish Institute welcome Dr Jens Mangerud as the new Head Librarian of the Nordic Library at Athens.

Jens holds his doctorate from the University of Oslo in the field of Ancient Greek Papyrology and has worked as a Senior Academic Librarian at the University of Oslo Library where he was the Subject Specialist for Ancient Greek and Latin. He has also managed and been involved in the digitalization of the University Library’s papyrus collection.

NEW CURRENTS IN ANCIENT WATER STUDIES

The digital workshop New Currents in Ancient Water Studies is arranged in cooperation between the Swedish Institute at Athens and the Frontinus Gesellschaft. The event aims to present ongoing projects studying the water supply in the ancient world from the Levant and North Africa to the northern provinces of the Empire and Rome itself.
