The Nordic Library at Athens celebrates 30 years of activities. We are delighted to invite you to join us for the jubilee events on 4–5 December 2025.

The celebrations will begin on Thursday, December 4, with a ceremony at the Nordic Library at Athens, followed by an exhibition. On Friday, December 5, the Danish Institute at Athens will host a Colloquium marking the Library’s 30th anniversary, entitled “The Future of Research Libraries in a Digital World.”

The Swedish Institute at Athens is sad to announce that our long-term collaborator Erik Hallager passed away on August 18, 2024. Erik Hallager was an expert on Minoan archaeology and scripts. He took over as field director for the Swedish part of the Greek-Swedish excavations in Khania in 1973, and continued working within the project until this year, also in his capacity of Director of the Danish Institute at Athens and professor of Classical archaeology at Aarhus University 2004-2007.
