Textile Art in Soufli

The city of Soufli in northern Greece once lay along the Silk Road. It was an important European centre for silk production in the 19th century and still maintain this industry, from larvae to finished fabric, albeit on a smaller scale. In this unique environment, the Swedish Institute at Athens brings together students from Konstfack, the Stockholm University of Arts, Craft and Design, and students from the corresponding Athens institution Athens School of Fine Arts.

Exhibition at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation

As a result of the educational programme «A common thread. Artistic exchange Sweden-Greece» in Soufi in northern Grecce, it is now time for the students from Athens School of Fine Arts and KONSTFACK from Stockholm, to present their work at the exhibition «Σουφλί & Μετάξι», which will be held at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.

The exhibition opens on Wednesday 2 November, at 19:30, and will run until 20 November 2022, with visiting hours 18:00-22:00. Entrance is free.

The Triangle av Sadness by Ruben Östlund

In May 2022, the Swedish film director Ruben Östlund won the prestigious Palme d’Or of the Cannes Film Festival for the second time, competing with The Triangle of Sadness. To celebrate this, the Swedish Institute of Athens and ASTOR invite you to a screening of this film, which will take place at ASTOR cinema, on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at 9 p.m.

The film will be introduced by Rea Walldén, Assistant Professor of Film Studies at the University of Athens.
