How to get to the Institute from Athens International Airport
Athens International Airport Eleutherios Venizelos is located 31 km (20 miles) from the city.
There are three easy ways to reach the Swedish Institute from Athens airport: metro, bus and taxi.
Metro
You can take the metro all the way from the airport to the Institute. Trains run usually every 30 minutes (at 00’ and at 30’) from 6 a.m. until 11.30 p.m. The trip duration is approximately 45 minutes and the ticket cost is € 9. Note: You have to make sure to validate your ticket in the machines placed at the entrances before you go down to the platforms. From the airport, take Line 3 to Syntagma station (blue line that runs from Airport to Dimotiko Theatro). Change metro line at Syntagma station and take Line 2 (red line to Elliniko) and exit at the next stop, Akropoli.
Express Bus no. X95
The Express bus no. X95 runs from the airport to Syntagma Square every 20-30 minutes, 24 hours a day. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes and costs € 6.To continue to the Institute from Syntagma Square, you can either take a taxi or change for the metro.
If you take the metro, take Line 2 (red line to Elliniko) and exit at next stop, Akropoli.
If you take a taxi, the flag starts at € 3,50 and that is also approximately the price you should expect to pay from Syntagma Square to the Swedish Institute.
Taxi
Taxi services are available from the airport to the city center. Travel time differs from 35 min to 1 hour depending on traffic and you have to pay € 40 during day time and € 54 during night time, i.e., 00.00-05.00 AM (flat rate including tolls, baggage, etc).
