Welcome to the Spring 2026 series of the Athens Greek Religion Seminar.

All seminars will take place at 17h (Athens) in a hybrid format with live presence at the Swedish Institute at Athens and online via Zoom.

It is with great pleasure that we announce the international Roundtable Resilience and Reconciliation: Democracy in Crisis and Repair across History, organized by the Swedish Institute at Athens in cooperation with the Netherlands Institute at Athens and the other Nordic institutes: the Finnish, the Danish and the Norwegian Institutes at Athens.

The Roundtable, consisting of two sessions, will take place on 29 April 2026 at the Swedish Institute at Athens.

The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 7 January 2026. 

Styrelsen för Svenska institutet i Athen ledigförklarar härmed Institutets stora forskningsstipendium för höstterminen 2026. Stipendiet är avsett för dem som ägnar sig åt vetenskapligt och självständigt studium av ämnen med koppling till Institutets verksamhet som förutsätter vistelse i Grekland. Studenter och forskare vid svenska universitet samt svenska studenter och forskare knutna till utländska universitet kan söka. Visst företräde ges för sökande från Antikens kultur och samhällsliv, men bedömning sker beroende på ansökningarnas kvalitet och relevans.

The seminar takes place on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 17.00 (Athens) in a hy­brid for­mat with live pres­ence at the Swedish In­sti­tute at Athens, Mitseon 9, and on­line via Zoom. 

The Nordic Library at Athens celebrates 30 years of activities. We are delighted to invite you to join us for the jubilee events on 4–5 December 2025.

The celebrations will begin on Thursday, December 4, with a ceremony at the Nordic Library at Athens, followed by an exhibition. On Friday, December 5, the Danish Institute at Athens will host a Colloquium marking the Library’s 30th anniversary, entitled “The Future of Research Libraries in a Digital World.”

The Swedish Institute at Athens invites you to a talk in greek by Νίκοs Μ. Georgiadis on the topic Who Was Henning Mankell, which will take place on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at the Swedish Institute (Mitseon 9, Athens).

It is co-organized by Filippo Lepori (Uppsala University), Gunnel Ekroth (Uppsala University) and the Swedish Institute at Athens.
