De Svenska Medelhavsinstituten – i Athen, Istanbul, Rom och San Michele – finns i år representerade med en monter (B03:64) på Bokmässan i Göteborg (21-25 september).

Swedish award-winning writer and journalist Jan Guillou visited Athens for two exciting events. Mr Guillou talked about his life and work, which has been translated into more than 20 languages and revolves about themes concerning world history, international political relations and the law.

BACKGROUND

A two week long trip in 2015 united 11 young archaeologists focussed on the LBA / EIA in the Northern Aegean and Southern Balkans and brought them on the traces of late prehistoric pottery from Central and Western Macedonia to Epirus, Albania, F.Y.R.O.M., Kosovo and SW Bulgaria.

PROGRAMME 2016

The Swedish Institute excavations in Ancient Kalaureia on Poros under the direction of Arto Penttinen were resumed in June in collaboration with the University of Gothenburg in Sweden.

The 2016 season accomplished two major goals.

The first of these was the drone photography of the site, intended to produce a color image to overlay onto the 3D data gathered via the terrestrial laser scanner. Additionally, imagery of the landscape surrounding the settlement was collected, expanding the 3D model.
