Athenvännernas Mundebostipendier

”För stöd till forskning och kulturell verksamhet inom Atheninstitutets verksamhetsområde”

Föreningen Svenska Atheninstitutets Vänner utlyser härmed tre stipendier om vardera 25 000 kronor. Stipendierna, för minst en månads vistelse i Athen, kan sökas av forskare, författare, konstnärer och kulturarbetare i vid bemärkelse med anknytning till Sverige eller svenska institutioner. De avser greklandsrelaterade temata med en bred tvärvetenskaplig målgrupp, med ämnesområden som spänner från antiken via Bysans och medeltiden till antikreception i senare perioder och Greklands moderna historia (från 1700-talet till i dag).

Föreningen Svenska Atheninstitutets Vänner utlyser härmed ett stipendium om 20 000 kronor till masterstudenter och doktorander som i sina utbildningar ägnar sig åt vetenskapligt studium av grekisk kultur inom ramen för Svenska institutets i Athen verksamhetsinriktning. Stipendiet avser valfri tidsperiod inom ett år från utdelningsdatum.

The Swedish Institutes at Athens and Rome have the pleasure to announce the joint lecture series Bridges.

Prof. Eva Rystedt, University of Lund, will give a lecture entitled

Greek and Roman imagery: Taking a wide view of a large theme.

The lec­ture will be given in a hybrid format on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 19h Athens time (18h Rome), with live presence at the Swedish Institute at Athens, Mitseon 9, and via Zoom link.

Carl-Gustaf Styrenius (1929-2023)

Carl-Gustaf Styrenius, former director of the Swedish Institute at Athens, has passed away at an age of 93 years. Born 1929 in Helsingborg, Sweden, he studied at Lund University, where he received a PhD in 1967 on a thesis called Submycenaean Studies. He was the director of the institute from 1963 to 1970. From 1971 to 1989 he was the director of the Medelhavsmuseet in Stockholm. From 1986 to 2005 he was the secretary of the board of the institute. He was honoured by the Swedish Government with the title of professor in 1994.
