Some more information about Nils Landgren Funk Unit

Nils Landgren and his Funk Unit are not just one of the most important jazz-funk bands of Sweden but a large family that, over the last 20 years and through 11 releases in the solid German label ACT, has evolved into an institution, having created its own universe by inviting emblematic figures of the musical tradition they serve, such as James Brown and Ray Parker Jr. For the group’s most recent album entitled Funk Is My Religion, the "man with the red trombone" as the restless Landgren is called, managed to gather all the members of the musical family to record amid the pandemic in a Stockholm studio. The result sounds like a delightful tribute to the greats of the funk school, free from nostalgic elements but with a mood to start the party at any moment.
