Aegean Lecture
D. Nenova, ˮLate Bronze Age Social Landscapes of the Southeast Balkansˮ

Aegeus and the Swedish Institute at Athens invite you to a lecture by Denitsa Nenova (independet researcher):
Late Bronze Age Social Landscapes of the Southeast Balkans
The lecture takes place on Friday December 20, 2019, at 19.00h, at the Swedish Institute at Athens, Mitseon 9, Athens
This presentation will introduce a book that explores settlement and burial patterns across the southeastern corner of the Balkan Peninsula during the second millennium BC, offering a detailed cross-border examination of local pottery data. Based on a comprehensive chronologically structured analysis the work calls into question some existing culture-historical constructs.
Methodologically this research is founded in the application of advanced spatial-statistical methods exploring settlement- and artefact-scale distributions. The results highlight clusters of attributes and cycles of micro-regional interaction allowing the author to address the formation, development and decline of the Late Bronze Age tradition(s) across three contemporary nation-states.
