The Swedish Institute at Athens, the Greek-Swedish Association, and the Nordic Academy invite you to the commemorative event honoring the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mikis Theodorakis

Mikis Theodorakis – Sweden, a second homeland

Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at the Danish Institute (14 Chairefontos Street, Plaka).

The event will highlight the memories of Margarita Theodorakis through her book «Αναμνήσεις ενός κοριτσιού». In addition, through the presentation by journalist, author, director, and television producer Giorgos Logothetis, we will explore Mikis Theodorakis’ relationship with Sweden: how the Swedes approached his work and personality, how they were influenced, and what bonds were formed during that period.

A greeting will be addressed by the Ambassador of Sweden, H.E. Mr. Håkan Emsgård.

- Giorgos V. Monemvasitis, music critic and historian, author of «Μίκης Θεοδωράκης - Χρονολόγιο»
- Chrysoula Papazotou, French language philologist
- Excerpts from «Αναμνήσεις ενός κοριτσιού» will be read by the actor Panagiotis Petrakis

Giorgos Logothetis, journalist, author, director, television producer

- Excerpts from «Ο Παγκόσμιος Μίκης Θεοδωράκης» will be read by actress Fotini Charalampidou

The event will be accompanied musically by the Choir of the Swedish Church of Greece, conducted by Pauliina Makinen, with Elke Roberscheuten on piano.
