Georgia Galani, Ph.D. candidate

2021-03-04

Following my undergraduate and master studies in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece, I am currently a Ph.D. student at the Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies of Stockholm University.

My thesis project, entitled Imprints of Roman Imperium: Bronze Coinages in the Republican Eastern Provinces, concerns the bronze coinages of the Roman provinces in the eastern Mediterranean during the last century BC.

The main aim is to offer a comparative overview of those provincial coinages in the frame of the newly established Roman provincial administration in order to put them into the broader historical and economic context of the period, which bears the signs of a rapidly transforming reality and acts as a prelude to the Imperial era.
