Abstract
Why do we excavate and what happens when excavations do not go according to plan? By studying the history of archaeology we can better understand the outcomes of previous archaeological research projects as well as current challenges. Two papers will address these issues with Swedish excavation projects as their point of departure.

Program
14.00 Ingrid Berg Digging for digging’s own sake – archaeological practice as national prestige.
14.30 Fredrik Tobin Asine, Labraunda and San Giovenale – when excavations do not go according to plan.

The presentations will be in English.

All warmly welcome!
