Workshop: Balkan Bronze age Borderland II



A two week long trip in 2015 united 11 young archaeologists focussed on the LBA / EIA in the Northern Aegean and Southern Balkans and brought them on the traces of late prehistoric pottery from Central and Western Macedonia to Epirus, Albania, F.Y.R.O.M., Kosovo and SW Bulgaria.


Malthi revisited - 2016


The 2016 season accomplished two major goals.

The first of these was the drone photography of the site, intended to produce a color image to overlay onto the 3D data gathered via the terrestrial laser scanner. Additionally, imagery of the landscape surrounding the settlement was collected, expanding the 3D model.

Rom och Athen har länge utövat ett dominerande inflytande på västerländska världsbilder. De två städerna anses ofta vara västerlandets vagga, katalysatorer av konst, filosofi och civilisation, tidlösa representanter för såväl demokrati som imperium. Samtidigt är både Rom och Athen huvudstäder i två relativt sett unga nationer med en turbulent modern historia. Vilken roll spelar uppfattningar av antiken i dessa moderna sammanhang? Denna tvärvetenskapliga kurs jämför Rom med Athen och möter på så vis det antika arvet och det ”klassiska” i samtiden…

Mass graves in Faliron Delta


In April news of sensational findings in Faliron Delta, where a new opera house and a national library are being constructed by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, hit newspapers and TV channels both in Greece and abroad. Mass graves containing the bodies of more than 80 executed, mostly young males were found, and there is some likelihood that the victims are those who supported the coup attempt of Cylon in the 630s BC.
