Ο Gustav Karlsson (1909-1995) υπήρξε Σουηδός κλασσικιστής και βυζαντινολόγος Gustav Karlsson (1909–1995), ο οποίος δώρησε τη βιβλιοθήκη του στο Ινστιτούτο.
Οι διαλέξεις προς τιμήν του Gustav Karlsson που θεσπίστηκαν το 2009 διοργανώνονται ανά διετία προκειμένου να ενισχύσει τη βυζαντινολογία ως ακαδημαϊκό μάθημα στη Σουηδία.
