How do I get to the Institute from the airport?
Athens International Airport Eleutherios Venizelos is located 31 km (20 miles) from the city. You will find the Institute close to the Acropolis Metro Station (Akropoli). See map of how to get to the institute from the metro station Acropoli.
-Express Bus no. 95 runs from the airport to Syntagma Square every 20-30 minutes, 24 hours a day. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes and costs € 3, 20. At Syntagma, you can either take a taxi or change for the metro. The Acropolis metro station is one stop away from Syntagma Square. You will take line 2 (the red line) in the direction Aghios Dimitrios. You will need a new ticket for the metro (€ 0.80). -You can also take the metro all the way from the Airport to the Acropolis metro station. Metro line 3 (the blue line) runs every 30 minutes from 7 am until midnight from the airport to Syntagma Square. The journey takes about 45 minutes and costs € 6.
- Taxi services are available to the city center. The flag starts at € 1 and there is a surcharge of approximately € 3 for taxis from the airport and € 0, 30 for each piece of luggage over 10 kg. Travel time differs from 35 min to 1 hour depending on traffic. You should expect to pay between € 20, 00-25, 00 during day time and € 35, 00 - 40, 00 during night time.
