Svenska institutet i Athen utlyser härmed tre resestipendier för en exkursion till nordvästra Grekland (Epirus och Aitolien-Akarnanien) under höstterminen 2023. Stipendierna är avsedda för doktorander i Antikens kultur och samhällsliv vid svenska universitet.

Vinciane Pirenne-Delforge, Collège de France, and Gabriella Pironti, École Pratique des Hautes Études, will give a paper entitled

Rethinking Greek goddesses: From Aphrodite to Hera.

The seminar takes place on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 17.00 (Athens) in a hybrid format with live presence at the Swedish Institute at Athens, Mitseon 9, and online via Zoom.

Cecilia Olovsdotter, Swedish Institute of Classical Studies in Rome, will give a paper entitled

The eternal cycle of Roman victory: Victoria and the conquest of the world in the visual culture of the Roman Empire (and beyond).

The lec­ture will be given in a hybrid format on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 19h Athens time (18h Rome), with live presence at the Swedish Institute of Classical Studies in Rome, Via Omero 14, and online via Zoom.

The Swedish Institute at Athens has invited Joel Lyssarides Trio to perform at the:

• 22nd Athens Jazz on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 21.00 and
• Preveza Jazz Festival on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 23.00

Furthermore, Joel Lyssarides will give a master class for the students of the department of Music Studies at Ionian University followed by a concert.

• Master Class – Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 17.00, at the Ionian Academy (Grimani Barracks). For Ionian University jazz students and all interested. 
• Concert –Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 20.00, at the Ionian Academy (Grimani Barracks). Free entrance. 

Sandra Blakely, Emory University, will give a paper entitled

Maritime Promises and Complex Analyses: an adaptive model of the Mysteries of the Great Gods of Samothrace.
